# Insurance Setup Guide

> Get your insurance workspace fully operational in your first week

This checklist takes a new insurance workspace from blank to fully operational. Most steps take a few minutes; A2P texting registration is the only one with a waiting period, so start it first.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Register your texting brand (start this first)">
    Go to **Settings → Trust Center** and submit your business for A2P registration — legal business name, EIN, address, and website. Carriers (AT\&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) require this before business texting works reliably.

    Approval usually takes 1–5 business days, and your phone numbers attach automatically once it clears. See [Trust Center & Number Health](/insurance/trust-center) for what each registration does and [Texting Compliance](/messaging/compliance) for the full walkthrough.

    While you're in the Trust Center, also register your **caller ID** — CNAM display name and the Free Caller Registry — so your business name shows on outbound calls instead of "Spam Likely."

    <Warning>
      Until your brand is approved, outbound texts may be filtered by carriers. Submit this on day one.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a phone number">
    In **Settings → Phone**, add at least one phone number — pick an area code local to your market. This becomes your outbound caller ID and your inbound line. See [Phone Numbers](/phone/phone-numbers).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review your comp grids">
    Open the **Comp Setup** view. Your workspace comes pre-loaded with carrier compensation grids — 15+ carriers across term, whole life, IUL, and final expense products. Check that:

    * The rates match your actual contract levels
    * Your **default comp level** is set correctly (it drives every commission calculation)
    * Any carriers you write that aren't listed get added

    See [Commission Tracking](/insurance/commission-tracking) for how the grids work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable your drip campaigns">
    The Insurance Edition ships with 15 pre-written SMS campaigns — one per lead type (Final Expense, Veteran, IUL, and more) plus follow-up sequences for appointment outcomes. They install as **drafts** so nothing sends until you're ready.

    In **SMS Drips**, review the copy, customize anything you want, and toggle on the campaigns for the lead types you buy. See [Lead Types & Drip Routing](/insurance/lead-types).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect your lead sources">
    Point your lead vendors and forms at your workspace webhook (**Settings → Integrations → Webhooks**). Map the vendor's fields to your contact fields — especially **lead type** and **state**, which drive drip routing. See [Lead Capture](/guides/lead-capture).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up call forwarding and notifications">
    In **Settings → Phone**, add your personal cell as the forwarding number (for inbound calls when you're away from your desk) and notification number (for new-lead and missed-call text alerts).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Make your first dial">
    Open the **Phone** tab, pick a lead, and call. You'll see live transcription, AI coaching, and — once the client starts sharing their situation — carrier recommendations from the [Underwriting Assistant](/insurance/underwriting-assistant).

    After the call, hit **Record Outcome** to log what happened. If it's a sale, Spark creates the policy record and calculates your commission on the spot.
  </Step>

| Day 5 | Review your first [Daily Tracker](/insurance/activity-tracking) entries and [Dashboard](/insurance/dashboard) numbers |

## For Agency Managers

If you run a team, also set up:

1. **Create your agency** in the Agency tab and share the join code with your producers — their numbers roll up to your dashboard automatically. See [Agency Rollups](/insurance/agency).
2. **Check the leaderboard** — producers and agencies rank by sales, premium, calls, and more. See [Leaderboard](/insurance/leaderboard).

<Tip>
  Your AI agent can handle most of this setup conversationally — ask it to review your comp grids, summarize your drip campaigns, or walk a new producer through their first day.
